Cultivate a Neutral Mind

We can’t control 85% of what happens to us, but we can control how we respond. When challenging situations come up, it can be easy - and understandable - to get upset and respond with an emotional reaction. Reacting in and of itself isn’t a bad thing. It can be a clue that something’s wrong and it may be high time you take action. Correct the situation, learn to deal with it if you can, or move on.

The key words here are take action. In most cases, yelling and screaming won’t get you lasting results. More likely, it will provoke more anger and frustration without resolving the underlying issues.

Kundalini Yoga and Meditation helps us to cultivate a meditative or neutral mind. So when you're triggered, you can go within, reconnect with a neutral state, and access your intuition. From here, you can assess your reaction. Are you responding to an unhealed wound from years ago? Are you getting caught in the crossfire of someone else’s drama? Is there a misunderstanding or miscommunication? Have you legitimately experienced an injustice? Or maybe you're hungry, haven’t slept well, or are just a bit on edge.

When you can more fairly assess what’s going on internally, you can take productive action rather than emotional reaction. Sometimes it’s as simple as having a sandwich or taking a walk. Sometimes you might need to repair or exit a long-term relationship or working situation that isn't serving you well. Once you become neutral and stop reacting, there’s a ripple effect and your presence can affect those around you. 

The more you practice Kundalini Yoga and Meditation over time, the easier it will become to hold neutral ground when you get triggered.
